MFA on the NAD Cloud

When you log into the NAD Cloud, you may see something like this:

In order to increase security, our system administrators have enabled Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). At present, you have the option to SKIP FOR NOW, but choosing to ENABLE MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION is a good choice. Here’s a walk-through on how to set it up.

Once you click that ENABLE checkbox, you’ll see lots more options. (I’ve obfuscated the QR code in the screenshot below so that this particular one won’t work.)

If you haven’t already, download one of the following authenticator apps to your smartphone:

Your app should have an option to ADD ACCOUNT by scanning the QR code shown on your page. It will generate a verification code that you type into the box.

NOTE: The “Remember Device” functionality only works if you don’t use your browser’s private/incognito mode. I use the RoboForm password manager, so I don’t mind putting my credentials in every time.

When you log in next, you’ll be asked for an authentication code.

Open your app and locate this account. You’ll see a screen that shows a token/code and its expiration time. Codes are generally good for only 30 seconds, so if yours is nearly expired, you may want to wait for a new one.

It’s kind of a pain having to whip out my phone every time I log in, but I can rest assured that multi-factor authentication goes a long ways toward the security of everything stored within the NAD Cloud.
