# Configuring the NADcloud as a Service Provider for BaaS or DRaaS in Veeam

### Overview

This guide explains how to connect your existing Veeam Backup & Replication server to the NADcloud. The wizard displays only the resources assigned to your tenant account, so some screens may not appear. Adding the NADcloud as a provider does not create or start a backup copy or replication job – this will be covered in a separate guide.

### Prerequisites

- **A supported Veeam software version:**
- Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2 or newer
- Veeam Backup & Replication 13.0.1 or newer
- Veeam Agent (BaaS only)
- Windows: 6.3.2 or newer
- Mac: 2.3.1 or newer
- Linux 6.3.2 or newer
- **Outbound network connectivity to backup.nad.cloud:**
- TCP 6180 from the Veeam Backup & Replication server and any backup proxies.
- For DRaaS, TCP/UDP 6180 is additionally required from your Hyper-V servers and any network extension appliances you configure.
- **For DRaaS, only virtual machines hosted on Hyper-V hypervisors are supported.** Hyper-V hosts or clusters must be added to Veeam before following this guide.

### Before you begin

- **Obtain your tenant credentials:** Once your request for BaaS or DRaaS has been approved, a NADcloud team member will send your credentials via a secure link.
- **For DRaaS, if you are deploying tenant network extension appliances:**
- Plan your virtualization host, virtual switch/VLANs, and IP settings required for your tenant network extension appliances. See the additional resources for a setup guide and more information about network extension appliances.
- Optionally consider setting your tenant-side network extension appliance credentials.
- You can use these credentials to log on to your network extension appliance VMs.
- Although not strictly required, this can be very helpful for future troubleshooting reasons. If you do not configure this, Veeam will use a randomly generated set of credentials.
- From the main menu, select Credentials and Passwords > Datacenter Credentials. Select the “Tenant-side network extension appliance credentials” record, click Edit, and follow the steps.

**Unsure what a network extension appliance is, or whether you will need one?**
A network extension appliance (NEA) is a Linux-based virtual appliance deployed by Veeam. It enables communication between your VM replicas running on the NADcloud and your production infrastructure that remains on premises during a partial site failover. A partial site failover occurs when only some of your production VMs are failed over to NADcloud, while other systems remain online at your local site. For a full introduction, please see our [DRaaS Beginner’s Guide](https://nadadventist-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/g/personal/danielingold_nadadventist_org/IQANDgo-P_M4QL9dTClL4h2wAcGzyHsAVUIt-3x1au9WuzQ).

If you would like the ability to perform a partial site failover, you will need to deploy one NEA for each on-premises production IP network that is connected to VMs you intend to replicate.

If you only plan to use full site failover, you do not need to configure a NEA.

### Configuring the NADcloud as a service provider

1. Open the Service Provider wizard.
2. In the Veeam console, select **Backup Infrastructure**.
3. Select **Service Providers** in the Backup Infrastructure pane.
4. Click **Add Provider** in the ribbon, or right-click Service Providers and select Add service provider.
5. Enter the required connection information.
6. In DNS name or IP address, enter **backup.nad.cloud**.
7. In Port, leave it at its default setting of **6180**.
8. Optionally, enter a description.
9. Leave the “Allow this Veeam Backup & Replication installation to be managed by the service provider” checkbox cleared.
10. Verify the TLS certificate and add tenant credentials.
11. Ensure that the Thumbprint box for the returned certificate displays “Certificate is verified by third party.” Do not continue if the certificate cannot be verified. Record the error and contact NADcloud support.
12. Under Credentials, enter the credentials supplied by NADcloud by clicking the **Add** button, entering the credentials exactly as supplied, and saving them. If you are reconfiguring the SP connection using previously saved credentials, you can also use the drop-down menu.
13. **BaaS:** Review cloud backup storage.
14. Wait while Veeam enumerates the cloud repository resources assigned to your tenant account.
15. Confirm that the expected repository and storage quota are displayed.
16. Configure provider-assisted restore permission: None is the default and typically most appropriate option.
17. **DRaaS:** Review cloud replication resources.
18. Wait while Veeam enumerates the hardware plan and its compute, storage, and network resources.
19. Confirm that the expected replication resources appear.
20. **DRaaS:** Configure your network extension appliance (NEA) settings.
21. If partial site failover is part of your design:
22. Open the Network Extension Appliance Configuration window by clicking **Add** to create a new NEA or **Edit** to modify an existing NEA.
23. Choose a virtualization host on which to deploy the specified NEA.
24. Choose a folder in which the NEA VM files should be stored.
25. Choose the virtual switch that corresponds to your production network.
26. Select the VLAN ID that this NEA should be connected to.
27. Configure DHCP or provide a static IP configuration for the NEA.
28. Repeat these steps to configure an additional NEA for each IP network that replica VMs are connected to.
29. If you do not plan to use partial site failover, ensure that no network extension appliances are shown in the list. Click **Remove** if necessary.
30. Wait for configuration tasks to complete, then assess results.
31. Once complete, backup.nad.cloud should appear as a service provider in Backup Infrastructure > Service Providers.
32. For BaaS, you should also see the assigned repository in Backup Infrastructure > Backup Repositories.
33. For DRaaS, you should also see the assigned hardware plan as a cloud host in Backup Infrastructure > Managed Servers > Microsoft Hyper-V.
